Versioning Assets
You version an Asset by uploading a copy of an existing Asset into ConceptShare. The copy is layered on top of the existing Asset. This process is different from uploading a new Asset.
Versioning may occur after:
- Feedback is given on the original Asset in ConceptShare.
- Changes are made to the original Asset outside ConceptShare.
- An outdated Asset is available in ConceptShare and must be replaced with a newer version.
When the versioned Asset is part of a Review, versioning restarts the Review process and asks Review participants to give feedback on the new version.
You can promote any feedback from an older version to the current version of an Asset. By promoting a feedback item, you can select a Draft or Published feedback from previous versions and copy it to the current version. The feedback you promoted can then be flagged and resolved, edited, or marked as needing further changes. For more information, see Promote Feedback.
Depending on where you open an Asset in ConceptShare, you can tell whether an Asset has been versioned by the following:
- Inside the Proofing Workspace, the name of the Asset will indicate V.# as a suffix, where # corresponds to the version number.
- Inside a Review, in the Assets to Review panel, the version icon displays at the center of the Asset thumbnail.
- Outside a Review, the version icon displays at the bottom left of an Asset card, where the number corresponds to the version number.
